Why You Need Tilt and Turn Windows for Your Home

Blog

There are various types of windows you can choose for your home. Windows may differ in the framing material but are mostly categorised depending on the mechanism of operation in terms of how they open or close. Most windows will only open in one direction. Casement windows will open to the side, while sash windows will slide either up or down. One type of window that may be less well-known to homeowners is tilt and turn windows. These types of windows are unique in the sense that they offer both vertical and horizontal opening actions and open inwards instead of outwards. Investing in tilt and turn windows comes with multiple benefits, and here are some of them.

Functionality in Operation

With tilt and turn windows, you can simply rotate the handle in any of the three positions: lock, tilt or turn. This single-handle operation means that regardless of how heavy or big your tilt and turn windows are, operating them will be easy.

Improved Security

Potential burglars will always look for vulnerable places to enter your home, and windows and doors are usually prime targets. Tilt and turn windows are designed to make it harder for someone to gain access to your windows. First, these windows offer locking around the whole perimeter of the window, making it difficult for someone outside to unlock them. In addition, the tilt function on most tilt and turn windows is limited to make it harder for someone to enter.

Ease of Maintenance

Cleaning your tilt and turn windows will also be simpler because they open inwards. All you have to do is pull the window towards you to clean it more effectively and with more ease. This is extremely beneficial if your tilt and turn windows are on a floor where you would otherwise need a ladder or scaffold to clean them. Opening the window inwards also gives you a better opportunity to inspect various parts of the window for damages.

Improved Ventilation Control

Windows play a major role in terms of ventilation, which in turn has an impact on your home's energy efficiency, especially if you have an air conditioning system. The vertical and horizontal opening action of tilt and turn windows makes it easy for you to control the amount of ventilation you want in your home. Pulling the windows to the side completely will let in as much air as possible into your home for maximum ventilation. If you only need partial ventilation, you can simply tilt it slightly at the top.

How a Window Brings Joy

Hello, my name is Sandra. I live in Western Australia with my husband and our two kids. I wanted to start a new blog so I could talk about windows and the joy they can bring into a person's life. I didn't fully understand or appreciate windows until we moved into our current home. It is a large place with plenty of windows. When I first stepped through the front door, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The light was amazing and the view made me want to cry. Having so many windows to look after has meant that I have had to learn a lot about maintaining them. I hope you enjoy my blog!
