3 reasons to dress your windows with Venetian blinds

Blog

If you need new window dressings, you may want to opt for Venetian blinds. Continue reading to learn why.

1. They provide some privacy, even when open

While curtains can certainly prevent people from looking in through the windows of your property when they are closed, they offer virtually no privacy when they are open. This can be problematic if you spend a lot of time in your home during the day, and would like to let some natural light in, without feeling like everyone who passes by your property can see you.

If you want a little bit of privacy, even when your window dressings are opened, then Venetian blinds are an excellent alternative to curtains, as they will partially obstruct people's view of your home (meaning that passers-by won't be able to see in unless they get very close to the window and deliberately peer through it), while still allowing sunlight to stream in through the gaps in the slats.

2. They are easy to clean

Most window dressings are difficult and time-consuming to clean. Curtains, for example, must be carefully unhooked from the curtain rail, before being put into a washing machine and then laid out flat so that they can air-dry. Likewise, roller blinds need to be removed from their rail and then hoovered and spot-cleaned, before being re-hung.

If the idea of spending hours of your time on this type of chore doesn't appeal to you, then you may want to dress your windows with metal, plastic or wooden Venetian blinds. The reason for this is that Venetian blinds are incredibly easy to clean. All you need to do is occasionally run a feather duster along the slats and wipe them down with a damp cloth when grime begins to accumulate on them.

3. They're visually unobtrusive

Venetian blinds are visually unobtrusive. This makes them ideal if you prefer a minimalist decorative style and want your window dressings to be as simple and modern as the rest of your home. This quality also makes these blinds perfect if you have a lot of other bold decorative features in the rooms of your home and do not want your window dressings to distract from these features.

The simple, unobtrusive appearance of Venetian blinds also makes them suitable for smaller rooms in your property, in which a set of heavy, draping curtains would look far too big and take up too much space.

How a Window Brings Joy

Hello, my name is Sandra. I live in Western Australia with my husband and our two kids. I wanted to start a new blog so I could talk about windows and the joy they can bring into a person's life. I didn't fully understand or appreciate windows until we moved into our current home. It is a large place with plenty of windows. When I first stepped through the front door, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The light was amazing and the view made me want to cry. Having so many windows to look after has meant that I have had to learn a lot about maintaining them. I hope you enjoy my blog!
